Pumpkin The Rescued Raccoon Thinks She’s A Dog
Here in Canada, we regard racoons as wild animals who are somewhat of a nuisance, but in the Bahamas it’s a whole different story.
One year ago, a baby racoon fell out of a tree and into Bahamas homeowner Rosie Kemp’s backyard.
When the raccoon’s mother never showed up, Rosie’s daughter, Laura Young, decided to take the injured animal under her wing.
The furry little cutie spent a month recovering from a broken leg, and now lives happily with Laura, her husband, William, and their two pooches.
(In the Bahamas, it’s legal for families to own raccoons so long as they are up to date with their vaccinations.)
"She instantly bonded with us and our two rescue dogs and follows me and our two dogs everywhere we go," Laura told The Dodo.
"She now thinks she is a dog," she added. "She is able to play and be rough with them and she respects them when they have had enough."
The dog-like raccoon has since become an internet sensation, with more than 115,000 Instagram followers. Scroll through the gallery above to see more!
