Whether you are just visiting Toronto or live here, do yourself a favour and book an appointment at Medulla for some serious hair love. Kelly is my styling maven and Jazmin is the colour queen. I'm obsessed with everything they curate in the little shop they have inside the salon as well.”
“I love going here for açai bowls and fresh juice whenever I'm in Yorkville. The streets are perfect for shopping and dining–so many gems there.”

“My favourite place for a business lunch or a bite with friends is the Holts Café at our Bloor Street store. It’s a relaxed yet luxurious environment and the food is amazing. I love the BLT salad and chocolate chip cookies and milk for dessert. Plus, it’s right beside my biggest indulgence in the store – our footwear department. Shoes to go!"
“I escape work stresses and city chaos by going to the movies. My favourite theatre is across the street from the office so I slip in, usually by myself, after work for a movie dinner (popcorn and chocolate) to watch a film.”
Kay Gardiner Beltline Trail
“Most mornings, you’ll find me power walking before work along the Beltline. It’s very close to my home so I can finish a brisk walk and be at work on time. It’s the best way to clear my mind and get ready for a busy day.”

“This one might surprise you since I’m a holistic nutritionist, but this isn’t a cardboard salty pizza. They focus on fresh, local as often as possible, whole food, high quality ingredients – this makes me joyous. My husband and I go to the Danforth location often. It’s our comfort food. I always order spelt crust pizza, I actually like the taste better than white crust.”
“I love nature and nothing rejuvenates me more than the smell of trees, even in the middle of winter. A walk in High Park makes you feel like you are somewhere far north of the hustle and bustle of the city. I visit the park all throughout the year, but my favourite time of year is definitely the fall when the trees are like a Group of Seven painting. We are lucky this is so close to downtown and accessible for everyone. The best part: it’s free.”
Everything that Tori and her team bakes is made with the cleanest, most natural ingredients, plus love and good vibes. It’s also totally vegan. The only problem I often face is deciding what to get. If I’m there for lunch, my fave go-tos are Yogi Tea Misto (tea with warmed coconut milk), a coconut bacon sandwich (sounds weird, but it’s insanely yummy) and a vanilla donut (baked, not fried). If I am just there for a treat, it’s always a donut.

Terroni (on Adelaide)
“Formerly an old courthouse in Toronto (makes for an eccentric atmosphere), Terroni’s thin-crust pizzas are implausible. And you’re absolutely not allowed to change any of the ingredients. Trust me, it works. Another must-try is the Garganelli Geppetto, which contains dandelions. It’s amazing.”
“Batifole may be located in Chinatown, but it makes for a pretty awesome French restaurant. With only seven tables, the restaurant provides a super cozy atmosphere. I always feel like I’m in Paris. The food is rich and delicious. Since I’m a particular eater and this is quite out of my comfort zone, it was so worth it. I recommend the Cote de Veau farci au Fromage de Chevre Frais Jambon Cru et Sauce Marsala. I have no idea, but it tasted great.”
“HogTown Smoke is a food truck turned restaurant. While, I wish this food were sexy like Batifole, it’s not. It’s comfort at its best. Trust me, you will never find food smoked better than this. If there is one thing you need to order, it’s the brisket. And don’t forget to ask for the DineAlone sauce.”

“Ballet holds a very special place in my heart. I danced ballet for 10 years and probably have not missed a single National Ballet of Canada production is the past five years. It’s one of few activities that I genuinely enjoy doing alone. For me a Saturday night alone at the ballet is the greatest escape when travel is not an option. For those looking to experience ballet for the first time, Alice’s Adventure in the Wonderland is on March 14th to 29th and it is magical!”
“Sugar rules my world and I absolute love Bobbette & Belle. My close friend once had a whole basket of their goodies delivered to my doorstep as a get-well gift and from that day it has been an ongoing obsession. Some days I’ll spend hours working at their Yonge and Lawrence Village location and just indulge in few too many pastries. My favorites include meringues, caramel popcorn and marshmallows. Just writing about it is giving me a craving.”
“I grew up in the west end of Toronto and growing up many hours were spent at Sherway Gardens. On the weekend it was with my mom and afterschool with friends; it was my go to place and continues to be. With higher end retailers and a calm atmosphere, nothing beats a Sunday morning Starbucks stop and a few hours of a retail therapy. My go to stores include BCBG MaxAzria, Aritzia, Holts and Sephora.”

‘This place has really amazing (and really large) donuts. They also make lots of take home savoury items like pierogies and soups and serve up really great lattes with homemade syrups.”
“The Hogtown Vegan serves up the best vegan comfort food in Toronto and it’s not just for vegans. Fave things on the menu are the southern combo, chicken & waffles, mac and cheese and deep fried apple pie with ice cream.”
Essence of Life
“A small, but jam-packed grocer in Kensington Market where we can find everything we need to fully stock our kitchen. It’s reasonably priced for organic and natural products that would be more expensive at bigger box stores.”

“Ruby WatchCo remains to be my favourite restaurant in Toronto. While it's known for its 5-star fare, it still manages to be warm, inviting and unpretentious (thanks in large part to the one and only Lynn Crawford and her awesome staff). The hospitality is second only to the incredible food.”
“Roncesvalles' hidden gem La Cubana remains my go-to spot for casual eats. The perfect spot for brunch or lunch, this diner-style restaurant serves delectable Cuban dishes that never disappoint. (They also get bonus points for carrying Red Stripe.)"
“When I've had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, nothing makes me feel better than a glass of red wine and some good old-fashioned comfort food courtesy of the amazing folks at Harbord House.”
