Relive Sofia Hellqvist And Prince Carl Philip of Sweden’s Fairytale Royal Wedding
Everyone loves a good royal wedding—the tiaras, the glamorous gowns, the pageantry—so much so that even the biggest cynic can’t help but fall for the romance of it all (we blame Disney).
So when former glamour model and modern-day Cinderella Sofia Hellqvist wed her movie-star handsome husband, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, it was certainly a moment to remember.
Just look at the genetically blessed duo: Not since Kate Middleton and Prince William has there been a more attractive royal match.
Bride Sofia, 30, took a page out of Kate’s 2011 bridal look, stunning in a long-sleeved lace gown by Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt. She accessorized with a very princess-like diamond-and-emerald crown befitting her new royal title.
Not to be outdone, the 36-year-old groom, who is third in line to the Swedish throne, was dapper in his formal military attire—but we especially loved his scruffy beard and devil-may-care long hairdo. How modern!
Indeed, the young couple seemed to embrace a modern theme throughout the ceremony. They even incorporated Coldplay’s “Fix You” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” into the royal wedding score.
Even more impressive still? The star-studded guestlist, a whose-who of European royalty and blue-blooded fashionistas in their most dazzling gowns and tiaras. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands shone in a pink dress paired with a diamond-encrusted crown, while Princess Madeleine of Sweden also chose an elegant shade of pink, wrapping her sizable baby bump in chiffon.
Feast your eyes on the royal wedding splendour (and the incredible dresses and jewels). Sigh—if only we could wear a tiara, just once!
